Project Summary
During the course of the project, we were given a Project Development Template by the Faculty comprising of different question that guided us in developing different aspects of the project and measure our progress on these variables over time. Following is the final responses to the questions asked in the Project Development Template:
Title of the Project
The Wizarding World of Happy Potter
Theme(s) of Project
Fantasy, magic, exploratory architecture.
Visual Style of Project
Realistic, Dark.
Atmosphere
We want to recreate the Hogwarts castle (more notable scenes) from the movies. It will start off with a light mood and will aim to make people excited to see things from the popular franchise. As the player advances through the scenes, the atmosphere will start to darken as they realize that all is not well in this magical castle.
Time Period
Set in the world of Harry Potter, which is like having a medieval time area hidden from the modern society of non-magic folk.
Inspiration Analysis
Our project is inspired by the Harry Potter series written by J.K. Rowling. We wanted to recreate the castle Hogwarts to give fans a chance to visit the world that was described in the books.
Harry Potter already has a 8 movies in their franchise, and a games on many different platforms that we can reference. This will be very useful in deciding what things we can or cannot build into our final project.

- Moving stairs
- Fantasy realm and magical properties of architecture.
Narrative
The player is put into the Hogwarts castle and follows a set narrative that leads them through the scenes using breadcrumbs/objects. These hint at an impending danger (Voldemort’s return), and after the player collects all the clues and is lead into the Forbidden Forest, which is the last scene, they find Voldemort alive and whole and they die to the killing curse, Avada Kedavra.
Final Project Innovations
(a) How does your Final Project improve upon the work in Unity you have previously done?
We will be using the stairs we created for assignment 3, but we will make it more interactive by making them move around. Also, will define a clear goal so that user has a motivation to move around the space.
(b) How are you going above and beyond what you have already learned?
We will search new javascripts to make the project more interactive. Also, we will create well polished models in Cinema 4D to improve the quality of the project.
We are relying on high quality sounds to improve the sensory immersion experience. More emphasis will be given to design a sound experience which can accomplish the purpose.
(c) What parts could you re-use/re-purpose from other assignments, and what will be new?
We will be using the work we have done for assignment 3 to build up to the final project. This time our group will also need to build more areas to explore and work more on the sensory immersion.
Immersion Frameworks
(a) In what way will your project be immersive?
We are trying to recreate the magical castle of Hogwarts, school of Witchcraft and Wizardry. By making the models in Unity look as realistic as possible, and adding SFX as well as having people explore it in a dark room(sensory occlusion), we hope to create an immersive experience for fans of the series.
(b) What type of immersion are you focusing most on?
Our main focus will be on sensory immersion and challenge based immersion. Challenge gives user motivation to navigate through space and sensory immersion creates a realistic atmosphere.
(c) What’s your plan on how to pursue and implement this?
Challenge based immersion: Jumping from the moving staircases, following the dementor, navigating the forest by following the spiders.
Sensory Immersion: Use of audio, adequate lighting

Motivations
We have group members who are excited to recreate from this series because we are fans of the movies/books. Each of our members also wants to work more on our skill sets for creating virtual environments and creating something worthwhile for our portfolios.
Why this project is awesome
(a) What’s new/interesting/cool/exciting about your project?
1. realistic emulation of a fictitious environment
2. immersive nature is high
3. deployable to web and controllable through a wiimote
(b) For your final showcase, what would be your main “selling points”? Why should anyone care about it?
The best parts of our project are the realistic renderings of the famous scenes in Harry Potter. Fans of the series would be able to explore the areas and with the high level of immersion, get to feel like they are really in the magical world of Harry Potter. They are also given the chance to use a wand and cast the popular spell lumos, as well as fly on a broomstick.

Project Timeline
Learning to do projects before the last minute is a lifelong journey for some of us. We want to help you avoid the stress of a last minute panic for your final project, so we made this project timeline template to help you get organized. The timeline should be updated after each iteration / hand in of this document.
